Abstract
This Law, as the national Parliament recognizes that there is a growing demand from consumers for agricultural products with unique characteristics due to their geographical origin, as well as for agricultural products produced in a traditional way, in view of which the producers of products with such specific characteristics must be provided with the means by which their products can be marketed to other can be effectively distinguished from the other products, thus providing them with a competitive advantage and protecting them against unfair practices, in order to promote the protection of geographical indications of agricultural products and traditional expressions of wine products, as well as the registration of traditional special product names, establishes the following rules. General provisions regarding the Member State procedure are stated in Chapter II (section 1); Special rules of the Member State procedure for obtaining protection in section 2. Chapter III sets the provisions relating to the protection of protected names. Rules related to recognition as a national value and Hungarian heritage and additional protected denomination labelling issues are defined in Chapter V.
