Law 74/2016 on the protection of the settlement image.

This Law, in order to protect and develop the characteristic and valuable image of Hungarian settlements, to protect the built and natural environment in a uniform manner, and to ensure that construction projects can be implemented quickly and successfully, here sets the rules aimed to support related construction investments, and at the same time to protect and shape the specific settlement image of domestic cities and villages through social involvement and consensus, in such a way that: a) the elements of the protection of the settlement image must be clearly established in a local government decree; b) the responsibilities for the application of the town plan requirements must be clearly defined; c) the local government should provide extensive information on the townscape requirements, thereby promoting the effective enforcement of the protection and shaping of the townscape during the planning and construction of buildings. The protection of the settlement image, in terms of this Law, means the preservation or development of the characteristic, valuable and tradition-preserving architectural image and structure of the settlement or part of the settlement, taking into account the architectural, landscape value and heritage protection.
