Abstract
This National Action Plan for the Development of Organic Farming (2014-2020) is a sectoral policy document. The aim of the Action Plan is to increase the size of the areas and the number of livestock involved in organic farming in accordance with the Organic Farming Program of the National Rural Strategy.
The Action Plan seeks to make agriculture and food systems more inclusive. Given that the domestic ecological farming is mainly export-oriented, the development of organic farming and the promotion of the products focus on raising the level of processing, encouraging targeted education, training and research activities, making better use of funding opportunities, etc. The Action Plan includes six action programs: 1. Related to regulation, development of procedures for organic farming and activities; 2. Increasing the production volume adapted to the market needs, and strengthening the development of processing and marketing; 3. Related to controlled ecological activities, training, research and development and consulting systems 4. Unified and transparent data collection and management, development of information systems 5. Increasing consumer awareness of, and confidence in products from organic farming; 6. Cooperation between sectoral actors as well as full development of product lines and food chains.
The Action Plan also contributes to making agriculture more productive and more sustainable through reduction of the environmental impact of agricultural origin and water and soil protection measures in the context of organic farming.
