Abstract
This Act outlines the basic principles which govern the management and conservation of state and private forests. The 22 articles are divided into 8 Chapters: General Provisions (I); Forest Planning (II); On Managing Forest (III); On Forest Management (IV); On Forest Protection (V); Penal Provisions (VI); Transitional Provisions (VII); Concluding Provisions (VIII).
Purpose of this Act is the protection of forest, to be achieved through a proper management of forest and forestry products. According to the provisions of article 5 "all forest within the territory of the Republic of Indonesia are administered by the State". The government shall make a general plan for the rational management and conservation of forests. The management shall be performed by the Government, joint ventures or granted to State enterprises.
