Abstract
This Ministerial Decree, implementing provisions of Law no. 18 of 2012 concerning food, and in accordance with the targets of the 2020-2024 National Medium Term Development Plan, provides for establishing the National Action Plan for food and nutrition, in order to increase sustainable food security and nutrition, create competitive human resources for the national development, integrate programs concerning food and nutrition with development activities, both at the central and the regional level, in compliance with Sustainable Development targets. The attached Action Plan moves from the consideration that with good nutrition, individuals of all ages are able to reach their full potential and have the opportunity to reduce poverty and inequality and improve the development of the country. The Action Plan addresses the malnutrition problem from a multisectoral approach, focusing on the interactions between nutrition and sanitation, hygiene, water quality standards, health services, social inclusion and gender issues, poverty, education.
The Action Plan was prepared with the following objectives: integrating national food and nutrition development planning into national development through multi-sector programmes and activities; increasing the role and commitment of the central and regional governments and other stakeholders in improving family food and nutrition security; providing guidance and input for central and regional governments in strengthening multi-sector programmes, in order to achieve the development targets. These objectives are achieved through the following multisectoral actions: increasing the affordability of diverse, balanced and safe food; strengthening food and nutrition governance; improving the utilisation of food and nutrition services.
