Government Regulation No. 69 of 1999 Re Foods Labels and Advertisements.

The Regulation consists of 64 articles which are divided into 8 Chapters: General provisions (I); Food labels (II); Food advertisements (III); Supervision (IV); Administrative sanctions (V); Transitional provision (VI); Special provision (VII); Closing provision (VIII).
Article 1 defines "food" and "processed food". Article 2 defines general requirements regarding labelling of packaged food that is produced in or imported into Indonesia. Article 4 specifies general contents of labels. Article 5 to 11 further place requirements of a general nature on food labelling. Articles 12 to 43 set out specific requirements for labels of food, e.g. name of food products, information on ingredients, weight and content, date of expiration, registry number, production information code, information of nutrition content, information of irradiation of food and genetic engineering, and in formation of food additives. Part III manly concerns false statements about food. The Ministry of Health shall exercise supervision over the implementation of the provisions of the present Regulation. Article 63 excludes certain food or food packages from the application sphere of this Regulation.
