Government Regulation (PP) No. 8 of 2026 concerning Amendments to Government Regulation No. 23 of 2021 concerning Forestry Management

This Government Regulation amends the Government Regulation No. 23 Tahun 2021 concerning Forestry Government Governance by inserting a new Article 293A between Article 293 and Article 294. The primary objective of this instrument is to adjust forestry governance arrangements to enhance competitiveness and economic growth within the Batam Free Trade Zone and Free Port. To achieve this, the regulation introduces a specific policy measure requiring the Minister responsible for forestry to involve the Head of the Batam Free Trade Zone and Free Port Authority (Badan Pengusahaan Kawasan Perdagangan Bebas dan Pelabuhan Bebas Batam) in executing various institutional functions. These operational aspects encompass forest policy and planning, land-use allocation and changes to forest functions, forest utilization, social forestry management, forest protection, and enforcement or compliance monitoring within the designated Batam area.
