Abstract
This Governmental Regulation, implementing provisions of the Law no. 23 of 1997 concerning Environmental Management, concerns air pollution control and air protection, in order to maintain, protect and guarantee its quality, protect the health of humans and other living beings. This Regulation concerns air quality, pollution, emissions, protection of ambient air quality; maximum limit of pollutants released in the air; motor vehicles; air pollutant standard index. According to the Regulation, air pollution control includes control of businesses and activities of any sources. The Regulation covers the following matters: air quality protection, including standards of nuisance level, noise thresholds and disturbance level standards; limits fixed by the Government; status of ambient air quality, based on meteorological and geographical conditions; agency responsible for controlling environmental impacts; emission quality standards and exhaust emission thresholds; air pollution control and environmental compliance requirements; declaration of a state of emergency for air pollution; supervision and monitoring; financing; compensation measures; penalties and offences.
