Abstract
These Presidential Instructions provide for mainstreaming biodiversity conservation, and for achieving balance and integration in sustainable development through the coordinated activities of ministries, institutions, regional governments and agencies. The Instructions concern: establishing sectoral Policies to mainstream biodiversity conservation in the context of sustainable development; ensuring a balance in the use of space for the purposes of economic development and biodiversity conservation; application of the principle of fair and equitable distribution of benefits obtained from the use of biodiversity resources; implementing low carbon development in the forestry, marine, agricultural, industrial and energy sectors; increasing ecosystem conservation efforts and the protection of genetic resources; improve management inside and outside forest areas; promotion of programmes for the conservation of essential ecosystem areas and habitats for the distribution of flora and fauna; increasing efforts to manage aquatic biodiversity in the marine and fisheries sector, especially for endangered fish species; development of marine and fisheries sector; including biodiversity protection in land spatial planning, and in granting rights to land; encouraging the implementation of green industry processes, and the management of industrial resources in a sustainable manner.
