Regulation of the Director General of Forestry Planning and Environmental Management Number P. 7/PKTL/SETDIT/KEU.0/9/2020 concerning the Strategic Plan of the Directorate General of Forestry Planning and Environmental Management 2020-2024.

This Regulation, based on the provisions of the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry no. 16 of 2020 about the Strategic Plan 2020-2024, contains and stipulates the Strategic Plan of the Directorate General of Forestry Planning and Environmental Management for 2020-2024. The Strategic Plan aims at achieving the following targets: recognition of all forest areas; availability of forest resource data and information; controlled use of forest areas; availability of comprehensive, complete and sustainable forestry planning; reports on deforestation; increased efforts to prevent environmental impacts on regional and sector policies as well as businesses and activities; increased forest governance. The Vision of this Strategy is: realising the forest area consolidation and environmental management in a participatory and sustainable manner as a precondition for national development The Mission focuses on: creating regional consolidation through forest inventory, forest area confirmation and forest area utilisation, formation of forest management areas and preparation of forestry plans to support the realisation of sustainable forests optimising the economic benefits of forest and environmental resources in a fair and sustainable manner; increasing environmental management through efforts to prevent environmental impacts on regional and sector policies; controlling over the use of forest areas to support the realisation of optimisation of the economic use of forest and environmental resources in a just and sustainable manner; improving the realisation of community empowerment in accessing forest management; strengthening forest governance.
In order to achieve its vision and mission, the Strategy defines and implements the following objectives and actions: providing data and information on forest resources and realising comprehensive, complete and sustainable forestry planning in supporting the improvement of forestry quality and resilience to climate change; preventing environmental impacts; controlling the use of forest areas to support the improvement of the economic potential of forest and environmental resources; designation of forest areas with targeted indicators; development of guidelines for the protection of natural forests and peat ecosystems; creation of areas for protected forests and production forests; increasing awareness of sustainable development in forest management.
