Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry Number 10 of 2024 concerning Legal Protection for Persons Fighting for the Right to a Good and Healthy Environment

This Ministerial Regulation, based on the provisions of Article 66 of Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management, provides for increasing public participation and synergy between institutions in efforts to prevent environmental damage, and for strengthening legal protection for people fighting for the right to a good and healthy environment. The Regulation concerns the following matters: exclusion from criminal prosecution of civil sue of people fighting for the the right to a good and healthy environment; categories of people fighting for the the right to a good and healthy environment; criteria to define the fight for the right to a good and healthy environment, including: playing an active role in organising educational activities on the protection of the environment, maintaining local culture and traditional knowledge on the protection of the environment, providing information on suspected environmental pollution, submitting proposals, opinions and objections verbally or in writing to central government agencies or regional governments regarding business plans and activities that are suspected of causing environmental pollution, carrying out other activities aimed at realising the right to a good and healthy environment; form of legal protection; procedural matters; monitoring and evaluation; financial provisions.
