Abstract
This Ministerial Regulation, implementing provisions of the Law no. 32 of 2009, concerns the management of Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs), classified as hazardous and toxic substances prohibited for use, and therefore establishes a legal framework for the gradual elimination and management of PCBs by 2028, in alignment with the Stockholm Convention. The Regulation defines the following relevant terms: hazardous and toxic materials; hazardous and toxic waste; Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) management; hazardous waste processors; environmental impact assessment; environmental management and monitoring; PCB concentration limit; laboratory tests. Matters covered by this Regulation concern: activities included in the PCBs management, particularly: reduction, storage and processing; identification procedures for PCB-containing equipment; labelling for identification of products; responsible persons in charge of hazardous waste management.
