Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia number P.38/Menlhk/Setjen/Kum.1/4/2016 concerning Approval of Development and/or Usage of Corridors.

This Ministerial Regulation, based on articles 74 and 75 paragraph (5) of the Government Regulation no. 6 of 2007, concerning preparation of forest management plans and forest utilisation, in its last amended version, provides for the approval for forest corridors construction and for corridor use agreement, in order to improve the increased use of forest areas and meet forest users’ needs, in term of transportation of forest, mining, plantation, agriculture and fishery products. The Regulation concerns: forest ecosystem; protection of biological natural resources; forest area; preservation of forest, animals and plant resources; water resources management; prevention of flood and sea water intrusion; controlling erosion; soil fertility maintenance; business permit for timber and non-timber use products. Matters covered by this Regulation include: requirements and procedures of application for approval for realisation and utilisation of forest corridors and specific provisions concerning protected areas, location of intensive crop cultivation and genetic resources areas; authorities responsible for issuance and submission of permits; provisions for utilisation of wood and forest products within the corridors; penalties and offences.
