Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the R.I. No. P.14/MENLHK/SETJEN/KUM.1/2/2017 on Procedures for the Peat Ecosystem Inventory Functions.

This Regulation, consisting of 23 articles divided into seven Chapters, establishes the Procedures for the Peat Ecosystem Inventory Functions in order to improve the protection efforts of vulnerable and damaged Peatland Ecosystems. It establishes safeguard measures to ensure ecological functions of the Peat Ecosystem in support of biodiversity conservation, water management, as carbon storage reserves, oxygen producers, and climate balance, pursuant to Government Regulation Number 71 of 2014 on the Protection and Management of Peat Ecosystem as amended. This Ministerial Regulation aims to regulate the procedures for the inventory and determination of the functions of the Peat Ecosystem as a tool for preparing the protection and management plan of the Peat Ecosystem using an indicative map of national peat ecosystem distribution, as contained in Attachment to Government Regulation No. 71 of 2014 on Protection and Management of Peat Ecosystem. The scope of this Ministerial Regulation shall govern the following procedures: a) inventory and determination of the functions of the Peat Hydrological Unity; b) determination of the functions of the Peat Ecosystem; and c) changes in the determination of the functions of the Peat Ecosystem.
