Regulation of Sintang Regency no. 1 of 2016 concerning Environmental Protection and Management in Sintang Regency.

This Regulation provides for environmental management and protection, in order to prevent environmental pollution and damages resulting in a decrease in the quality of life of the community; ensure the preservation of ecosystems; protect the right of the population to live in a healthy environment; protect human health; control the responsible use of natural resources in implementing sustainable development. The Regulation covers the following topics: analysis of environmental impacts; environmental audit; wastewater; hazardous and toxic materials; hazardous and toxic waste; water quality standards; air quality; ecosystem; emissions; environmental permit; measures to protect forest; protected areas; community knowledge; customary and community law; utilisation of wastewater for application to soil as fertilisers; water pollution; environmental pollution; air pollution; environmental impact assessment; sustainable development; waste management; climate change; water sources; protection of soil. The Regulation defines the principles on which the environmental protection is based, including: biodiversity and polluter pays.
Matters covered by this Regulation include: authorisations of Regional Government; control of environmental pollution, including control of damaged soil, of forest ecosystem; instruments and strategies to carry out prevention of pollution; standard criteria for environmental damages; obligations of business activities; land damage control and prevention and biomass production, including land clearing; forest management and plant protection, including prohibition of unauthorised logging and destroying of parks; river ecosystem control and protection; guarantee fund to be provided by an environmental permit holder; preservation and sustainable use of natural resources; efforts to protect ozone layer; general rights, obligations and prohibitions, including: catching fishes using poisons and other prohibited means, carrying out mining activity, hunting, wild flora and fauna trade without permits; community management and participation; regional cooperation; environmental dispute settlement; administrative sanctions, fines and criminal provisions.
