Abstract
The Climate Action and Low Carbon Development Act 2015 (Greenhouse Gas Emissions) Regulations 2021 were established by the Government of Ireland to address greenhouse gas emissions. These regulations are based on the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development Act 2015 and Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/1044. They specify the greenhouse gases to be considered for carbon budgets and outline the methods for calculating and accounting for emissions, including reductions. The regulations incorporate guidelines from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the global warming potential values from the EU regulation.
