Abstract
The effect of this Order is to further regulate Artificial Insemination services. From 19 April 2001, a person shall not sell or supply or attempt to sell or supply: (a) bovine semen, or (b) any equipment or other thing used to transport bovine semen or administer bovine semen to an animal, save under and in accordance with a bovine semen licence. A person shall not have in his or her possession or under his or her control bovine semen in a public place or on a public road save under and in accordance with a bovine semen licence. No person shall engage in the artificial insemination of bovine animals under the Act of 1947 in any place in the State, save under and in accordance with a bovine semen licence or a licence issued under the Act of 1947 in respect of bovine animals in his own herd or a herd specified in the licence.
