Abstract
These Regulations shall apply to the production with a view to marketing, and to the marketing of, beet seed within the Community. For the purposes of these Regulations marketing shall mean the sale, holding with a view to sale, offer for sale and any disposal supply or transfer aimed at commercial exploitation of seed to third parties, whether or not for consideration. The Regulations consolidate existing Regulations made under the European Communities Act, 1972, relating to such seeds and provide a framework to introduce detailed rules in respect of genetically modified plant varieties and plant genetic resources.
