Abstract
These Regulations carry into effect provisions of Directive 2006/11/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on pollution caused by certain dangerous substances discharged into the aquatic environment of the Community insofar as it relates to the discharge of certain dangerous substances from offshore installations into the Irish territorial sea. The Regulations prescribe that a person shall not discharge or cause or permit the discharge of a dangerous substance from an offshore installation into the territorial seas except under and in accordance with a discharge permit granted by the Minister. The Regulations also provide with respect to powers of authorized officers.
