Abstract
The purpose of these Regulations is to implement Council Directive No. 90/667/EEC, as amended, laying down the veterinary rules for the disposal and processing of animal by-products, for their placing on the market and for the prevention of pathogens in feedingstuffs of animal or fish origin. "Animal by-product" means any carcase or part of any animal or fish or any product of animal origin not intended for direct human consumption with the exception of animal excreta and catering waste. High and low-risk animal by-products, as listed in the First Schedule Parts I and II respectively, shall not be used, sold, offered for sale, processed, disposed of, incorporated into animal feedingstuffs or petfood, supplied, stored or otherwise dealt with for any purpose except in compliance with these Regulations.
