European Communities (Food Additives other than Colours and Sweeteners) Regulations 2004 (S.I. 58 of 2004).

These Regulations prohibit a person to manufacture foodstuffs containing food additives or otherwise use food additives in or on any foodstuffs, or place foodstuffs on the market, if the requirements of these Regulations are not complied with. The Regulations concern and apply to food additives other than colours and sweeteners. The provisions of these Regulations shall apply also to foodstuffs intended for particular nutritional uses in accordance with Directive 89/398/EEC, as amended. Only those substances listed in Annexes I, III, IV and V of European Parliament and Council Directive No. 95/2/EC as amended, may be used in foodstuffs for specified purposes.
