Abstract
Persons who acquire milk for the preparation of heat-treated drinking milk or for processing into milk-based products shall maintain a register of the holdings on which such milk is produced (reg. 6). Production holdings shall be registered in accordance with regulation 7. Every proprietor or person in charge of a registered milk production holding shall have the milking animals on the holding inspected and certified, at such intervals as the Minister shall specify, by a veterinary surgeon (reg. 9). The Minister shall establish and maintain or cause to be established and maintained a register of all approved milk treatment establishments and approved milk-processing establishments pursuant to regulation 12. Regulation concerns approval of such establishments. Each approved establishment shall be assigned a health mark in accordance with regulation 14. Milk collection centres shall be registered in a Register established under regulation 15. Raw milk shall not be placed on the market in that state for human consumption unless it meets the requirements set out in regulation 19. Regulation 22 provides for standards for heat-treated drinking milk, whereas regulation 25 prescribes standards for milk-based products.
