Abstract
These Regulations give effect to Commission Decision 2002/80/EC of 4 February 2002 laying down special conditions on the import from Turkey of figs, hazelnuts and pistachios and certain products derived thereof. The effect of these Regulations is to lay down the general provisions for the importation of figs, hazelnuts and pistachios and certain products derived thereof originating in or consigned from Turkey. A person may not import products falling in any of the categories specified in regulation 3, originating in or consigned from Turkey, which are intended for human consumption or to be used as an ingredient in foodstuffs, unless the consignment is accompanied by the results of official sampling and analysis, and by the health certificate as prescribed. These Regulations shall be enforced by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland. The Regulations provide for methods of sampling for aflatoxin B1 and total aflatoxin and inspection and powers of enforcement.
