Abstract
These Regulations prescribe measures to prevent the introduction into and spreading within Ireland of the harmful organism Ralstonia solanacearum (Smith)Yabuuchi et al. affecting potatoes.
They prohibit the introduction or having in possession of, moving or having control over this harmful organism and prescribe various measures to fight the spreading of it. A person who has discovered potatoes to be infected by this harmful organism shall notify the Minister of the fact. The Regulations also provide for the appointment of authorized officers, define powers of such officers and prescribes offences. An authorized officer may impose measures to be taken by persons having under their control potatoes that are affected with the harmful organism. The Minister may declare Contaminated Zones and may prescribe measures for such areas for purposes of eradication or the prevention of spreading of the pest.
