Abstract
These Regulations provide for the measures to be applied in the event of a suspect or confirmed outbreak in poultry in Ireland of highly pathogenic avian influenza caused by influenza A virus of subtype H5 suspected or confirmed to be of the neuraminidase type N1. In this case, the Minister shall establish two types of areas having regard to the geographical, administrative, ecological and epizootiological factors relating to avian influenza. In case of an outbreak, restrictions are placed on the movement of poultry and poultry products between and from and to the two zones. Where the movement of poultry and products is authorized, all appropriate biosecurity measures specified in the authorization shall be taken by the holder of the authorization to avoid the spread of avian influenza.
