Abstract
These Regulations implement Council Directive 92/118/EEC laying down animal health and public health requirements for products not subject to the said requirements laid down in other specific Community rules. They apply to the import into the State from another Member State of products to which the Council Directive applies, other than those which originated in a third country and in relation to which all the checks provided for in Council Directive 90/675/EEC, have been carried out immediately prior to importation, and to the export from the State to another Member State of products to which the Council Directive applies.
The Regulations prescribe general and specific conditions for trade in animals and specified animal products (regs. 4, 6 to 24), and provide for registration of establishments (reg.5). They also: (a) provide for the appointment of authorized officers by the Minister; (b) lay down the powers which may be exercised by such authorized officers; and (c) establish offences in the case of contravention of the Regulations.
