European Union (Invasive Alien Species) Regulations 2024 (S.I. No. 374/2024).

The present Regulations provide for the discipline of invasive alien species. Part 2 regulates competent authorities; this includes appointment, powers of authorised officers, and search warrant –authorised officer, etc. Part 3 concerns restrictions and offences, publication of invasive alien species of Union concern, permits and authorisations, emergency measures. Part 4 entails rapid eradication at early stage, management measures and restoration of the damaged ecosystem. Part 5 disciplines invasive alien species of national concern (as listed under column 1 of the First Schedule) and provides for offences and permits. Part 6 regulates public participation and access to justice. Under Regulation 19, activities which may have significant effect on environment, before granting a Regulation 10 permit or a Regulation 18 permit the Minister shall determine whether the grant of such a permit may have a significant effect on the environment.
