Abstract
The Act amends provisions of the Fisheries (Consolidation) Act, 1959 which: Give definitions (sect. 3); relate to penalties for use of unlicensed scheduled engine (sect. 65) and fishing with rod without a licence (sect. 66); provide for ordinary fishing licences (sect. 67) and duties on licences (sects. 68 and 69); restrict the erection of fixed gear (sect. 99); prescribe penalties (sects. 167-170); provide for defence in legal proceedings (sects. 182 and 303); relate to general powers of fish protection (sect. 296) and the payment of fines to regional boards. Part I the Fourth Schedule relating to licence duties is amended.

An Act to amend and extend the Fisheries Acts 1959 to 1987, by amending the provisions for salmon rod ordinary licences and extending the provisions for ordinary fishing licences in respect of trout, licenses in respect of coarse fish, and licenses in respect of trout, salmon and coarse fish, to limit registration under Section 58 of the Fisheries Act, 1980, to sea anglers and certain other persons and to amend Section 59 of that Act and to otherwise extend and amend fisheries legislation.
