Abstract
Ireland’s Update of National Implementation Plan for the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) (2018) contains the renew commitment of Ireland in further reduce release of unintentional POPs. The Plan is organsied in 7 Sections. Table 1 sets out the priority actions on enforcement, regulation & control, research and awareness & guidance. These targeted areas link the actions to relevant POP substances and the owner(s) assigned the responsibility under legislation. Section 1 contains background and overview Section 2 provides for a description of the country profile and POPs institutional, policy and legislative framework. Section 3 is an assessment of intentionally produced POPS and Section 4 Unintentional releases of POPs. Section 5 is on Public awareness, education, information exchange & reporting; Section 6 Research, development and Section 7 Financial resources. Further POPs are identified.
