Abstract
These Regulations transpose Directive 2001/80/EC into Irish law by specifying emission limits for emissions of sulphur dioxide, oxides of nitrogen and dust from large combustion plant as defined in regulation 3. The Regulations also provide, where appropriate, for the definition and implementation of a national emission reduction plan for certain older plants, or the limitation of operation of such plants. Regulation3 defines the application sphere of the Regulations. The emission limit values relating to SO2, NOx and dust for Type A and Type C plants shall be as set out in the First Schedule and for Type B plants as set out in the Second Schedule (reg. 7). Notwithstanding the emission values, the Minister may define and notify to the Commission a national emission reduction plan under regulation 8.
