Abstract
These Regulations provide for licensing of Irish fishing boats fishing for monkfish in specified areas. These Regulations also provide for additional control measures for those who apply for a licence under the licensing scheme introduced by these Regulations. Boats must be registered in the Register of Fishing Boats and possess a valid licence under section 222B of the Fisheries (Consolidation) Act 1959 (as inserted by the Fisheries (Amendment) Act 2003. A monkfish licence granted under these Regulations shall restrict the quantities of other quota species that may be caught, landed and transhipped by the licensed boat. The Minister may attach conditions, as specified in these Regulations, to a monkfish licence.
