Abstract
These Regulations provide for the licensing of Irish fishing boats fishing for herring in ICES areas VIa, VIb, VIIb and VIIc. The Minister may, at his or her discretion, grant to an applicant a licence authorizing, subject to this Regulation, the fishing for herring from the licensed boat in the specified area or such part thereof as mentioned in the licence and the landing or transhipment of herring taken in that area or such part thereof during such period as mentioned in the licence. Only boats registered in the Register of Fishing Boats shall be licensed. The Minister may, from time to time, restrict the quantity of herring that may be taken during such period as the Minister decides or in respect of particular vessels. The Minister may attach to a herring licence conditions as specified in this Order.
