Abstract
Subsection (1) of section 9 of the Principal Act is hereby amended by the substitution of "the prescribed number (not less than thirty-five) of" for "thirty-five". Paragraph (a) of subsection (3) of section 9 of the Principal Act is hereby amended by the substitution of "body corporate established under and subject to the law of the State and having its principal place of business in the State" for "company incorporated under the Companies Acts, 1908 to 1924, the whole of the share capital of which is held by Irish citizens". The number thirty-five refers to the minimum length of vessels that need a licence for fishing under this Act. Paragraph a of subsection 3 provides that licences that shall not be granted unless the vessel is registered in the State under the Merchant Shipping Acts, 1894 to 1947, and is owned by an Irish citizen or a company incorporated under the Companies Acts, 1908 to 1924, the whole of the share capital of which is held by Irish citizens.
