Sea Pollution (Control of Harmful Anti-fouling Systems on Ships) Regulations 2008 (S.I. No. 82 of 2008).

These Regulations give effect to the International Convention on the Control of Harmful Anti-fouling Systems on Ships. This Convention prohibits the use of harmful organotins in anti-fouling paints used on ships and establishes a mechanism to prevent the potential future use of other harmful substances in anti-fouling systems. These Regulations provide for the surveying and certification of Irish ships. All other ships may be subject to inspection when they are in the territorial waters of Ireland.
Breaches of these Regulations shall be punished pursuant section 29 of the Sea Pollution Act.
