Abstract
These Regulations give effect to Annex VI to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships.
The Regulations, which apply all Irish ships wherever they are and to other ships when they are in the inland waters and territorial seas of the State, control emissions from ships with a view to preventing air pollution.
The Regulations provide for the survey, certification and control of ships, provide the form of the International Air Pollution Prevention Certificate, prohibit, subject to the provisions of section 11 of the Sea Pollution Act 1991, any deliberate emissions of ozone-depleting substances and provide emission standards for ships according to its engine or other characteristics of the ship in question.
The Regulations also provide with respect to reception facilities in ports.
