Abstract
These Regulations implement in Ireland provisions of the Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the management of waste from extractive industries so as to provide for measures and procedures to prevent or reduce as far as possible any adverse effects on the environment, in particular water, air, soil, fauna and flora and landscape relating to the management of waste resulting from the prospecting, extraction, treatment and storage of mineral resources and the working of quarries. The Regulations, among other things, place duties upon operators (e.g. a waste management plan) and provide for the control and licensing of waste facilities.
