Abstract
This Act prohibits the slaughter or intentional killing of any cow or calf of a she-buffaloe. For slaughter of any other animal, the Act requires a certificate to be obtained from the competent authority that the animal is fit for slaughter. The slaughter in respect of which certificate is granted must be carried out only at the place specified by the authority. The competent authority shall have the power to enter and inspect any premises if it has reason to believe that an offence under this Act has taken or is likely to take place. The Act exempts application in cases of experimental or research purpose or for public health reasons.
