Abstract
These Rules are framed in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (ea) of sub-section (1) and (2) of section 38 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 for regulation of animal birth control. A Certificate Project Recognition from the Animal Welfare Board of India (Board) is required for a local authority to conduct Animal Birth Control program. The conditions and criteria to be fulfilled for grant of certificate are provided by the Rules. Rule 7 lays down the classification of animals for these Rules. The obligations of the owners of animals and local authority are laid down. The Rules require maintenance of records and furnishing of reports by the local authority. The Board has power to inspect any Animal Birth Control Center.
