Abstract
These Guidelines are framed in exercise of the powers conferred by section 27A of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 (6 of 1974). Chapter 1 of the Guidelines contains the short title, commencement and definitions. Chapter 2 provides for the form for application for consent to establish or operate an industrial unit under section 25 of the Act and the fees payable. Chapter 3 lays down the criteria for establishment of industrial unit including procedure for selection of location, distance from water body, settlement, education institute, place of worship, national park, heritage site etc. Chapter 4 states the guidelines in respect of grant of consent to establish an industrial unit, grant of consent to operate the industrial unit, renewal of consent, and refusal or cancellation of consent. Chapter 5 provides for monitoring committees at the national and state level. Chapter 6 requires the Central Pollution Control Board to develop an online portal for the purposes of these Guidelines.
