Abstract
This Decree is enacted in pursuance of Section 25, Chapter V of Food Safety and Standards Act, aiming to regulate and ensure the safety of food being imported in the country and to envisage a robust import control system ensuring efficient monitoring and traceability of high risk products.
It has been decided that import of high risk products as specified below shall be permitted through 61 ports only which are directly manned and managed by FSSAI office/officials. The list of such high risk food products include: 1. Milk and Milk products; 2. Egg powder; 3. Meat and Meat products including poultry, fish and their products; 4. Infant Foods; 5. Nutraceuticals, Health supplements, Foods for Dietary uses, Probiotic and prebiotic foods, Foods for Special Medical Purposes.
