Abstract
These Rules make provision for the management of Government forest and Government land including common land managed jointly by village forest development societies and by the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department.
The Rules provide for the establishment of an Executive Committee of the village forest development society and defines its internal organization. The Committee will exercise powers of a forest officer as assigned by the Government under the Act.
Village forest development societies will be entitled to the following benefits: collection of the yield such as fallen branches, grass, fruits, seeds, non timber products, etc. free of cost; sale proceeds of all intermediate harvest; the Government will not charge any royalty on the forest produce within the selected area; etc.
The Rules further provide for: funds of the societies; settlement of disputes; appeal; powers of the Government; etc.
