Abstract
This Act amends the Inland Vessels Act 1917.
The Act modifies some definitions of section 2 by extending inland water limits and amending the definition of mechanically propelled vessels; inserts a new section 9A on temporary permits; makes certificates of registration issued by a state valid in other states (sect. 31); inserts a new Chapter VIAB on the prevention and control of pollution by oil or hazardous substances in inland waters; and inserts new sections 62D and 62E on punishment for offences related to pollution.
Minor amendments have been made to sections 3, 19I, 22, 30, 52 and 54C.
