Abstract
The Act is extended to the whole Khasi Hills District. Fishing in privately owned waters in the Assam region is forbidden under this Act, as well as laying any net, trap, cage or other device designed to trap fish. Fish includes molluscs. The protection of fish may be extended, by the power of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council, to waters not included in those privately owned, and to which the same provisions on poisons and explosives are applied, together with restrictions concerning fishing equipment, mesh size, even the suspension of fishing activities up to two years.
