Abstract
These Rules are framed in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (jv) of sub-section (1) of Section 63 of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 (Act). Rule 3 lays down the procedure for registration by every person in possession of any animal species listed in Schedule IV of the Act as required under section 49M of the Act. The Rules also lay down the procedure for reporting and registration of birth of off-springs of such animal species (Rule 4), transfers, via gift or sale etc. (Rule 5), and death of animal species (Rule 6). Rule 7 contains the obligations to be carried out by every person who has registered under the Rules. Rule 8 provides for grounds on which the application for registration shall be rejected or registration may be cancelled. Rule 10 allows for appeal against the decision under Rule 8.
