Abstract
This Act is enacted in accordance with the Maharashtra Groundwater (Regulation for Drinking Water Purposes) Act, 1993.
The Zilla Parishad of a district shall prepare a villagewise list of all public drinking water sources in the district and furnish the same to the Appropriate Authority. It shall be the primary responsibility of the Village Panchayat concerned to report violation of the provisions of sub-section (1) of section 3 of the the Maharashtra Groundwater (Regulation for Drinking Water Purposes) Act, 1993. The Rules further makes provisions for: application for permission to sink a well, declaration of over-exploited watersheds, application for sinking well in the over-exploited watersheds, etc.
