Maharashtra Water Resources Regulatory Authority (Amendment) Act, 2016 [Act No. VIII of 2017].

This Act amends the Maharashtra Water Resources Regulatory Authority Act, 2005 (Act). It empowers the government to appoint a Committee to exercise the powers, functions and duties of the Authority when the Authority is not reconstituted under sub-section (5) of section 3 of the Act. The Act is further amended in respect of composition and qualification of the Chairperson, Members and special invitees of Authority inter-alia requiring a groundwater management expert as a Member and at least one special invitee shall be a woman. The constitution of Selection Committee, for appointment of the Chairperson and Members is also amended.
