Abstract
These Rules implement provisions of the Indian Forest Act, 1927.
The Rules provide for: the protection of reserved or protected forests from fire; acts prohibited in reserved and protected forests, including hunting, shooting and pasturing of cattle; the reservation of trees in protected forests; conditions for the exploitation of protected forests; the transit of forest produce; forest produce imported in the territory of Manipur; establishment of forest depots and their purpose; collection of drift or stranded timber and its disposal; powers and duties of forest officers and revenue officers; preservation of wildlife in reserved forests; the establishment and control of forest villages; etc.

These Rules repeal: Manipur Govt. Order No 56/6/64 of 28 July, 1964 regarding the adoption of Assam Forest Manual; Manipur Govt., Works & Forest Branch Notification No. I-F.R 31/55-56 of 1 October 1958 regarding the preservation of wild life in reserved forests and other parts of Manipur; the Manipur Forest (Power of Forest Officers) Rules, 1966; and the Manipur Forest (Transit of Timber and Other Forest Produce) Rules, 1966.
