Abstract
The Act makes amendments Act No. 67 in what concerns eligibility of mining applicants and licensed holders, transfer of mining concessions. Amendments are also made to an increase in the mining area (Chapter 6). The addition of Chapter 8A describes the period of grant of a mining lease for minerals other than coal, lignite and atomic minerals. New Sections 9B-C describe that any district affected by mining related operations shall be subject to the establishment of a non-profit body by the State Governmentthe, the District Mineral Foundation. The State Government shall also establish the National Mineral Exploration Trust, with the object of using the funds accrued to the Trust for the purposes of regional and detailed exploration as prescribed by the Central Government. The State Governement shall also constitute as many Special Courts in order to manage and deal with speedy trials of offences.
A fourth Schedule is added to the document, and lists the Notified minerals being bauxite, irone ore, limestone and manganese ore.
