Abstract
This Act provides for the management, conservation and development of fisheries in the State of Mizoram.
The State Government shall have supreme control over all Government water bodies and shall appoint Fishery Wardens for the protection and conservation of fishes from unlawful catching. The Government shall also establish a Fishery Conservation Board at the State, District and Village level. The Act provides for closed seasons and for fish sanctuaries, and prohibits the catching of fish using dynamite or any explosive or poisonous substance in any water.
The Act further provides for the following matters: prohibition to sell fish unlawfully caught; offences and penalties; grants for fish farmers to encourage the development of fisheries; rule making powers of the State Government; etc.
