Notification of the Ministry of Environment and Forests establishing the West Bengal State Ganga River Conservation Authority.

This Notification provides for the establishment of the West Bengal State Ganga River Conservation Authority in order to coordinate and implement the river conservation activities at the State level, take steps for comprehensive management of the river Ganga and to take measures for the effective abatement of pollution and conservation of the river Ganga in West Bengal.
The Notification further: defines the composition of the Authority and its powers and functions; specifies that the jurisdiction of the Authority will extend to the State of West Bengal; provides for the establishment of the State Executive Committee of the Authority to oversee and monitor the implementation of various programmes and projects of the Authority; etc.
